Your first “Coaching Moment”

Do you remember the first time you taught your little brother or sister something? Or did you help a classmate at school? Or did you help a colleague in a difficult situation at work?

Guess what. This was YOUR first coaching client .

Coaching is not some niche thing that only certified experts and internet gurus deal with. It is actually a HUGE part of our daily lives. Which means it’s also most likely a skill you already have to some degree. (Which is good news if you want to get certified or actively manage the development of your teams and colleagues).

Over the years, I’ve gotten a lot of questions about how to be a good coach – especially at the beginning of this journey, when you don’t yet have hours worked with clients. Until now, I haven’t talked about it much (which may be hard to believe when you look at the fact that I’ve already been in this business for more than 20 years and have 4,500 alumni).

However, I think the time has come when, together with other Kingmakers coaches and trainers we want to reach out even more actively to people like you!

To All managers responsible for the development of their employees and teams, wishing to apply developmental conversations in their work.

To Business coaches and consultants , looking to enrich́ their workshop with business coaching skills and seeking new clients.

To HR leaders and HR Business Partners , who want to actively support the development of people in organizations and use business coaching as their work tool.

…and to All people who want to become professional coaches.

That’s why I undertake to prepare blog posts for you dedicated to sharing my best tips on how to be a great coach.

The upcoming topics I will be covering are:

  • What coaching is…and what it is not.
  • How is it different from simply asking questions…. although that is one part of it.
  • What “golden advice” is best to forget and many, many more!

Personally, I truly believe that business coaching is one of the best ways to get to know yourself and at the same time develop the people around you (and thus the business you create). Therefore, I invite you to expand your knowledge in this area together and on a regular basis.
