Many people who ask us about coaching training want an answer to the question, “and what will this coaching give me (or the employee)?”
The question, of course, is perfectly legitimate, because, after all, everyone wants to know whether a particular investment will pay off for him (or the company).
So what can you look forward to by taking part in the Coaching Skills Intensive At Kingmakers?
First, you will learn that in developing others, you don’t have to know the answer to every question or take responsibility for the progress of others.
Surprise? Certainly, because after all, every (or almost every) manager feels that they should have the answer to everything, and if they don’t know something, it’s a sign that they lack competence. After all, he feels he was hired to solve problems, and in the course of his work he is further strengthened in this. At Kingmakers, we start by changing this attitude and introducing a new way of thinking and understanding your role. We show that the desire to develop others is not about taking responsibility for them just creating opportunities for development. We teach how to talk so that it brings results to each party. We train with asking questions with curiosity rather than looking for solutions. We make you realize that it is possible to not know something and at the same time guide another person in his development both professionally and personally.
Secondly, you will learn to talk in an effective way by sticking to the structure.
For many managers who operate according to certain rules on a daily basis, coaching appears to them as an area without structure. Nothing could be further from the truth! During the Coaching Skills Intensive, we teach how to talk according to a wise logarithm – how to conduct a dialogue step by step. This helps you not to get lost and to know when the interlocutor is running away from what is crucial and what to do to make him want to come back to it.
Third, you will understand that emotions are an additional channel of information for the manager.
Unfortunately, it is little appreciated, and thus overlooked or misapplied. After all, talking about emotions, feelings, beliefs or values is much more difficult than talking about results. We argue that this skill can be mastered and effectively implemented without unnecessary psychologizing. We show how to ask about emotions and respond to them. We teach to act in this area according to a certain structure, specifically. We teach the craft of talking to another person, which when practiced and enriched can turn into an art.
Using the metaphor of an iceberg, in the Coaching Skills Intensive program we deal with all that is underwater and invisible at first glance. This allows us to get to the motivations of the interviewee and gain access to new information. We practically show how to do it. We demonstrate each technique with examples. We practice them together, because it is the practice of these seemingly easy competencies that shows, on the one hand, individual areas for development, and on the other hand, the power and effectiveness of the coaching method.
